HL Leonard Model 39 Tournament Bamboo Rod 8' 3/2 #5For sale here is a pre fire Leonard Model 39 Tournament bamboo rod 8 feet for a 5 weight line. The rod is in near mint restored condition. Ted Simroe performed the restoration. There is one invisible wrap on one of the tips, covering what appears to be a scarf. All sections are full length. Cap and ring over a butternut insert. Includes original bag and tube. Rod weighs 3 7 8 oz. Ferrules are 9 64 and 14 64.
The varnish is slightly flaking in a few areas and shows wear on both sections

The script on the rod remains clean and bold
Made in 1981
The rod features darkly tempered cane often seen on older Orvis rods with transparent deep rust colored wraps
Perfect spar varnish
The reel is right hand retrieve and in excellent++ overall condition
An all-time favorite amongst small stream glass rod fishermen
There was a minor delamination near the top of the butt section
