262997/1949 - West Midlands Joint Electricity Authority No. 1 - Ruston Works' Green - DCC Sound FittedRuston 262997 was built new for the West Midlands Joint Electricity Authority, leaving Boultham Works on 27 January 1949 for the Birchills Power Station in Walsall. Birchills came under the control of the WMJEA in 1925 and in 1944 it was decided that a new Station, Birchills B, should be constructed. The new power station, called 'Walsall B', officially opened on 30th September, 1949, and 262997 was responsible for shunting at the new Power Station,

with the main spotting features of these DRS era machines being the revised LED tail lights

It was repainted for the 1980 Rainhill Event

84 was one of the last batch of ten locomotives built for the Great Eastern Railway

the first of several hundred locomotives of a type that would revolutionise Railfreight across the UK (and Europe)

the line was completely shut in 1977

This pack contains two IIA Biomass Bogie Hopper Wagons

These remained in service on the private railway with 16 and 21-ton former BR stock until the mid-1990s

but retaining the original narrow cab and coal bunker
