Schneetarn snow camouflage was introduced to the Bundeswehr from around the mid 1960's. While not providing much in the way of warmth or waterproofing, these ponchos provide fast and excellent concealment. The addition of brown green needley sprays to the white is usually more effective in camouflage than a flat white snow cover,
